Presidency replies former Ministers under GEJ's administration, says anti-corruption fight is non negotiable

The presidency has released a statement replying former Ministers who worked in Jonathan's administration. In a statement released this evening, the former ministers had asked the Buhari led govt to be sincere in its fight against corruption and not use it as a tool for political witch hunting. In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the presidency said the war against corruption is not a personal one nor a means of political witch hunting and that the fight is not negotiable and does not have friend nor foe.

The statement in part reads
In this regard that there is no witch hunt or malice against anyone in the pursuit of the county’s stolen assets still stand . This war against corruption knows no friend nor foe. There is no intention to deny anyone of their good name where they are entitled to it and that President Buhari reserves the highest regards for the country’s former leaders including Dr Jonathan Goodluck who he continues to praise to the high heavens for the way and manner in which he accepted defeat in the last election. That singular action remains a feat that has earned the former president and Nigeria as country befitting commendations all over the world, the latest coming from Mr Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations who visited a week ago. For the purpose of emphasis, the issue of fighting corruption by President Buhari is non negotiable. It is sine qua non to the overall reconstruction of the economy and social systems which suffered destruction and severe denigration under the last administration. President Buhari will not be deterred or blackmailed into retreat and surrender. No one in the PDP can accuse President Buhari of undermining the economy when all they handed over to him is at best, was a tottering economy hobbled by corruption and the absence of due process. Things have become worsened by the continuing fall of oil prices, which is expected to fall even further with the imminent full return of Iran to the market. All he has been doing while around is to put things together, organizing to defeat Boko Haram, paying outstanding salaries, cleaning up the mess left behind, improving security and restoring our relationships with neighbors and the world. So what are former ministers afraid of in these things? Have they become a new trade union? Let this collection of ex-VIPs allow the President the peace he needs to handle the reconstruction of the economy and the nation in a manner that most serves Nigeria’s best interests. President Buhari does not need these types of distraction presented by the so-called association of former ministers.”

Another trouble for all the top EPL clubs as Manchester City Sign Kevin De Bruyne For £50.8 M.

Manchester City new signing, Kevin de Bruyne has disclosed that he’s happy to join the Blue side of Manchester to help them win all the titles available.

The Belgium international signed a six-year deal from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in a deal worth £50.8million.

“I want to reach the highest level possible as a player and I think the most important thing is that at the end of the season we can be happy and maybe have some titles,” De Bruyne told the club’s official website.

“I think this is the most important for the Club, the players and for the fans of course.

He becomes manager Manuel Pellegrini’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph, Nicolas Otamendi, Patrick Roberts, Enes Unal, David Faupala and Aleix Garcia at the Etihad Stadium.

“We are very happy to have added Kevin to our team and I have no doubt that he will be a big success on his return to the Premier League,” Pellegrini said.

“It takes a special footballer to improve our squad and I have no doubt that Kevin is certainly one of those – he has all of the mental, physical, tactical and technical attributes required to fit straight in.

“We like to play attractive, attacking football and bringing in a player like De Bruyne will only aid us as we fight on four fronts.”

De Bruyne began his career at Genk in his home country before completing a £6.7m move to Chelsea in January 2012.

However, he endured an unsuccessful first spell in England, making just three appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea following a loan spell back at his former club.

De Bruyne spent the 2012-13 season on loan at Werder Bremen and took the Bundesliga by storm last season after making an £18m move from Chelsea to Wolfsburg in January 2014.

He scored 20 in 60 appearances during his 18-month spell at the Volkswagen Arena.

The tension was palpable all around the court with both teams not giving an inch to each other.

Man With ‘World’s Longest Manhood” Says Women Are Scared To Sleep With Him | PHOTOs

A man who claims he has the world’s largest penis says women are too scared to have sex with him.

Super-endowed Roberto Esquivel Cabrera also claims his manhood is actually a disability that leaves him unable to work. Not only that, but the 52-year-old’s 18.9in member is so long that ladies are afraid of it.

The member hangs well below his knees and he wants his ‘gift’ to be recognised by the Guinness Book of world Records. Cabrera has approached health services to support his claim he is disabled.

He said:
“Look where it is, it goes far below the knees.I cannot do anything, I cannot work, and I am a disabled so I want authorities to declare me as a disabled person and give me support. Then, I want to go to the Guinness to get recognition.”

And doctors at a health centre in the city of Saltillo, in the north-eastern Mexican state of Coahuila, have confirmed that “according to the scan” in 3D, it is genuine.
A doctor there said the main part of his willy was just over 6 inches long and the rest was extra skin.

Medical experts suggest troubled Cabrera might be able to opt for a voluntary modification of his anatomy and have a shaft reduction operation.
He was deported from the USA to Saltillo in 2011 and lives alone in a room given to him by his brothers.

He survives on social assistance and scavenges for food and materials on waste dumps.
He has no friends and wherever he goes he says people shun him.

67 migrants Drowned After Boats Capsized off Libya, 3,000 Rescued, Including Nigerians (Photos)

67 migrants are feared dead off Libya and the coastal town of Zuwara after more than 3,000 people attempted the crossing between Tuesday and Wednesday. The crew of the Swedish rescue vessel Poseidon discovered around 52 bodies in the hold of a wooden boat from which around 400 people were rescued some 30 miles north of Libya.

They were found close to the engine and are believed to have died from inhalation of engine fumes and asphyxia. Originally, rescuers counted 30 bodies but a spokesman for the Italian coastguard said the real death toll stands at 52.

In a separate incident, another 15 people are feared drowned after their boat capsized around five miles off the coastal town of Zuwara on Wednesday. A spokesman for the coastguard there said they had saved 20 people and recovered three bodies. The survivors, primarily from Nigeria and Ghana, told the coastguard they were traveling in a group of about 40 when their boat overturned in bad weather. They had only travelled some four hours after they left the shoreline.

The coastguard started the rescue at 4am and continued with the search into the afternoon but no more bodies were spotted. The tragedies came during an especially busy day in the waters outside Libya. The Italian coastguard said in a statement that around 3,000 people had been rescued in 10 different operations throughout Wednesday on the central Mediterranean route to Europe. That brings the total number of people rescued since Saturday to about 8,170 people.

Rescuers from the Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS), Medicines Sans Frontieres (MSF), the Swedish coastguard and Italian Navy rescued at least 1,800 people between themselves. Most of them were picked up within a square mile some 30 miles north of Zuwara. Around 11am, rescuers from the Poseidon and MOAS were engaged with the boat in which the bodies were discovered when another wooden vessel with 600 migrants appeared on the horizon. An hour later, a dinghy with some 100 people on board was heading towards the rescue vessels.

The result is that some 150 people were left stranded on the wooden boat waiting while the Italian navy vessel Fiorillo made its way to the area because all other vessels in the area were filled to capacity. People started feeling sick provoking a chain reaction, while many more suffered from dehydration. Eventually, a doctor from MSF treated the most pressing cases and rescuers from MOAS supplied water making the wait more bearable.

According to Migrant Report, the migrants left Zuwara at around midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. Most are from Pakistan and Bangladesh and sub-Saharan Africa.

APC leaders upset as Pres. Buhari appoints more Northerners!

There was outrage in the ruling All Progressives Congress party on Thursday over the announcement of new appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Leaders of the APC complained that the appointments were mostly in favour of the North and  Northerners.
“The President does not consult before making most of these appointments and I can tell you that Nigerians are going to term the party and the President as a northern party and the President of Northern Nigeria,” a leader of the party said on Tuesday.
He said, “Though the President did not get much votes from the South-East, we must not neglect the zone in key appointments.
“Even the South-West that supported and was the backbone of the party, what are we giving the zone in appreciation? We need to be careful before the party is destroyed.”
It was gathered that some leaders of the party are considering having a meeting where the appointments would be reviewed.
But another senior member of the APC said such a meeting, would have to wait until the party holds its Kogi State governorship primary on Saturday.

A member of the state executive of APC in a South-West state, said the appointments were lopsided against the South.
He said,
“When President Olusegun Obasanjo took over, you saw balance in appointments as he reflected federal character. President Goodluck Jonathan too reflected a semblance of balance. Buhari is pursuing a northern agenda. This is the same agenda pursued by the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, when everything was pro-North. Buhari made six appointments at a go and five of them are northerners.”
The Speaker of one of the Houses of Assembly in the South-West, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also described the new appointments as shocking.
The Speaker, who is a member of the APC, said,
“This is shocking. It doesn’t speak well at all. The South-West has been completely neglected and the South-East too. The South-West was neglected during the President Goodluck Jonathan years. The South-West must rise up against this.”
Similarly, an APC chairman in another South-West state, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the list of the new appointees left him perplexed.
He said:
“This is not good at all. Why should he choose everybody from the North? I am sure he did not confide in anybody before drawing up the list and making the announcement. We will continue to watch. It is condemnable.”
In the same vein, an APC member of the House of Representatives, said the leaders of the party in the South-West were shocked by Buhari’s latest appointments.
“He didn’t tell anybody. We are all shocked. The real shocker would be when he is going to appoint ministers. The only thing that would save us is that he is mandated constitutionally to choose from all states, otherwise, he would have chosen all the ministers too from the North,” the female member of parliament said.

Mother of twins has the hardest choice anyone should have to make.

Amber McCullough is looking to Wednesday with mixed emotions. The Minnesota mother will deliver twin girls at the Colorado Fetal Care Center at Children's Hospital Colorado via cesarean section. No matter what, one of her daughters will not survive.
"I'm anxious and excited for Hannah and dreading what it means for Olivia," McCullough, 31, said.

Hannah and Olivia are conjoined twins who will be delivered by C-section at 32 weeks gestation, under the care of renowned fetal surgeon Dr. Timothy M. Crombleholme.
"I will get to see my girls very briefly after the delivery," McCullough said. "They will need to be intubated right away, but the doctors will hold them up real quick and I'll get a peek."

McCullough doesn't expect to have the chance to hold her daughters before doctors start the eight- to 12-hour surgery it will require to separate them.

McCullough says her daughters are joined at the chest, stomach and hips. Hannah and Olivia share an abdomen, liver and intestinal tract. The girls have separate hearts and kidneys.
"If I had my way, I'd keep them together if they both could live," McCullough said. "But it's not possible. I wish it were. If they stay together, they'll both pass."
During her pregnancy, McCullough was overwhelmed with the opinions of doctors, friends and family.
She knew she wanted to carry her daughters and give them a shot at life even though the odds were stacked against them.
"I just can't lose both," McCullough said. "There's a chance of saving one."
The latest statistics reveal conjoined twins occur once in every 200,000 births. Forty to 60% of conjoined twins are stillborn, while 35% survive only one day.

Hannah and Olivia have fared well during the pregnancy. Doctors have told McCullough that once the umbilical cord is cut after delivery, the girls will be tested.

Olivia is not expected to survive because of her heart. She only has a single ventricle and is missing valves.

Hannah's future is uncertain. She will face challenges which, for now, remain a mystery.
"We'll just have some things to work out as we go forward," McCullough said. "I'm going to make dang sure she's happy and comfortable."
Last winter, McCullough, of Hastings, Minn., learned she was expecting one baby. Shortly into her second trimester she visited a doctor, only to walk out with a stunning revelation.
"I went in thinking I needed some simple antibiotics at an urgent care in Burnsville, and I walked out of there with a diagnosis of conjoined twins. I was in shock," said McCullough.
McCullough said her pregnancy became more complicated as she visited several hospitals for consultations and received conflicting opinions of whether to move forward with the pregnancy.
"I walked out of there thinking I must terminate out of my best interest, otherwise I'd likely be risking my life, and I have a 6-year-old to think of," said McCullough. "So far in this journey we have gone from OK, we can save both, we can save none, we can save one, and it's been a roller coaster."
“There are few things sacred in life, your children will always make the top of that list, and of those few things sacred in life, they are always worth fighting for, even if you lose the battle. I think it’s very important their story be told. With my girls lies a message of life, strength, beauty.”

McCullough chose the University of Minnesota Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center to proceed with the high-risk pregnancy under the care of Dr. Tracy Prosen, who is also the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center director.
"It's a balancing act. What are the risks to mom in this pregnancy and what are the risks to baby or babies? This is a situation where Amber has known all along this is a risk to her own health, and we've been monitoring closely for that," said Prosen.

Prosen diagnosed the twims with what is known as a Thoraco-omphalo-ischiopagus-tripus conjoinment, a term meaning the girls are joined from mid-chest to pelvis, sharing an abdomen, liver and intestinal tract, with three legs. The girls have two separate hearts and kidneys.

Hannah is the healthier twin, while Olivia has a weaker heart and only one leg, along with a congenital brain malformation called a Dandy Walker variant. With such health complications, doctors advised McCullough that Olivia is not expected to survive birth, while Hannah has a chance at survival.
"The cards are stacked against us. The reality right now is there is nothing they can do for Olivia. That is very hard to accept. People have asked me if I am ready for that. Course I'm not. Nobody is. I don't think you can prepare for losing a child," said McCullough, through tears. "You never picture yourself having conversations about contacting funeral homes, cremation, or memory baptisms. You don't think of having to make those arrangements for your kid when you should be painting their room pink or something."
"It's really the ultimate moral dilemma. It's been very difficult. But at the end of the day, if it's absolutely necessary and I'd lose both of them if we don't do this, then we need to do this," said McCullough.
McCullough points to the commitment she learned in her Army career.
"I will never quit. I will never accept defeat. I will never leave a fallen solider. Why don't my kids deserve that same kind of commitment?" she said. "I think it's very important their story be told. With my girls lies a message of life, strength, beauty."
McCullough has lived at the Ronald McDonald House in Aurora since early August. Her stepmother is there, keeping her company and caring for her.

McCullough also has spent the month talking with a bereavement doula, who has helped her sort through her feelings.

"This is not something you can be ready for," McCullough said. "Nobody is ready to lose a child no matter what the circumstances."

Woman Stabs Fiance To Death Over Demand For Sex

A 24-year-old woman Blessing Edet has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her fiancé, Edet Ebong, 33, to death with a kitchen knife over his demands for sex. Blessing, who resides at Ogombo village in the Lekki area of Lagos state, had been dating Ebong for the past 18 months and they were on the verge of finalising their marital plans.

Recounting what happened, the suspect said that on August 18, Ebong, who worked for Akwa Ibom State Transport Company (AKTC), had come in drunk and asked for Indomie noodles, which she prepared for him. After eating, he asked about the engagement ring he had given to her. She then told him it was on the table.

She said:

“We lay down to sleep and he started making advances on me for sex. I told him I had a hectic day and was tired. He flared up and started beating me.

“He broke the standing mirror in the room and injured me above my left eye with the broken glass. In defence, I ran to pick up the kitchen knife I had used while preparing ‘Indomie’ noodles for him. I mistakenly stabbed him in the stomach.”

“After stabbing him, the fight continued. He went under the bed, brought out a cutlass and said he was going to kill me. It was at this point that my younger brother who had been trying to stop us, but to no avail, rushed out to call neighbours.

“My landlord heard the shout and rushed into our room. He saw Edet bleeding while I was holding a knife. He alerted the police and Edet was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately he died two days after.”

Blessing, who claimed to be an orphan, explained that she had asked him to move in with her six months back when he had trouble with his accommodation. The love birds had been engaged for the past 18 months and were at the verge of finalising their marriage plans when the tragedy occurred.

“Edet was my fiancé. We have been in a relationship for about 18 months now. However, six months ago, he had trouble with his accommodation; so I told him to move in with me since we were already engaged.

“We have never had a misunderstanding before. But on that fateful day, I had just returned from the day’s business and was resting when he came in. Edet came in drunk. He requested I prepare ‘Indomie’ noodles for him, which I did. “After eating, he asked me of the engagement ring he had given to me. I told him it was on the table.

This was before he started beating me. Sincerely, I stabbed unintentionally, even while he was in the hospital, I prayed he would survive. I don’t know what came over him that day. We had good plans for the future. He was not just a lover but also a brother.”

Blessing said that she started living alone four years ago, after her aunt told her that her presence in her home was making her husband uncomfortable. The woman assisted Blessing and her kid brother to secure a room apartment. It was this home that Ebong later came to join her.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Patricia Amadin, said she was still trying to access the full details of the incident at press time. But a resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said:

“It was around 12am and 1am when they started fighting. They were disturbing the peace of the entire village. I heard the argument. It was about noddle which Blessing’s boyfriend, Obong, asked her to prepare. She prepared it without adding ‘Sardine’ which he had requested.

“The argument led to a fight. Blessing later stabbed Obong. She shouted ‘I will stab you with knife’. And that was what she did. She ripped open the man’s stomach.”
Another resident said:

“The two friends are from Akwa Ibom State. But Blessing, who is a prostitute, rented a room in this village. Then, she started bearing Amaka. She has no other work than to be sleeping with men and clubbing.”

The resident added that a few months ago, the two lovers had a quarrel which made Blessing to throw out Obong’s belongings from her room. According to her, it was when Blessing could not cope again that she mended fence with Edet.

Turkish Airlines staff, Selim Tartan assaults Nigerian female traveler

This happened in Instanbul today, according to the victim @addictbypawprint,. And right is the man she captured on camera trying to take her phone. Below is what she wrote,
"I checked in and my boarding pass said I was on stand by. The guy who checked me in told me to go and wait at the gate that I might be lucky to fly. I asked him why I was not informed as I bought a confirmed ticket that I needed to see the manager. Then the manager comes and said I should go and check the website for the terms of Turkish airline because a confirmed ticket did not mean I would definitely get a seat on the flight.

I then asked for him to show me where that was stated on my ticket. Then the guy said I should stand there and keep asking. Meanwhile, there was a family of 5 who had the same problem and we all were displeased so I started taking a video of how he spoke as it was an extremely bad service.
The rest of it was assault. When we got to the boarding gate, 15 people had standby boarding passes. Some passengers had bought their tickets since May. Turkish airline sold seats that had already been paid for and then offered us 300euro compensation.
Before I started with the video, I asked him for his name. He went as far as writing it down for me that I should take this to any where I wanted. Btw, he called the #turkishpolis, when the police saw the video. They asked us to go to the airport management because Turkish Airlines is a big company in the country and there was nothing they could do. They asked us to delete the video but we declined. Airport mgt did not even listen to us. They asked us to go back to Turkish airline."

Bank Manager Arrested For Ordering The Destruction Of Her Husband’s Factory

Twelve suspected thugs have been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ court for their alleged involvement in the demolition of a furniture factory in Ajao Estate, Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The police at Ajao Estate division have also arrested a bank manager, Mrs Blessing Okpoko in connection with the pulling down of the factory owned by her husband, Ifeanyi Okpoko.

P.m.News gathered that the couple had been at loggerheads and had gone to a Lagos High Court seeking for the dissolution of their 13-year-old marriage that produced three daughters.

The couple also seek the sharing of their properties.

The couple in their petition are accusing each other of infidelity and constant quarreling which resulted in the divorce suit at the court.

The suit was still pending at the court when the thugs invaded the factory kown as Multicraft Interior located at 14, Alhaji Lukeman Atobajeun Street, Ajao Estate and pulled down the structure.

Items worth millions of naira were also destroyed during the demolition exercise.

While the demolition was going on, Ifeanyi contacted the DPO, CSP Ade Adedeji who mobilised his men and arrested the thugs

The police also recovered a bus and instruments allegedly used in cutting the iron rods used in building the factory.

Narrating what happened, Ifeanyi said he was in the house when his workers phoned and informed him that three Air Force officers with arms and thugs invaded the factory and chased them away and started demolishing the structure.

He said he contacted the DPO who sent his men there, adding that before they got there, they had destroyed the structure and damaged his machines.

He said the Air Force officers escaped while the suspects were arrested and detained at Ajao Station.

He said the property was subject of litigation at the high court and the court was yet to decide the matter before the demolition.

Ifeanyi said he was not given any prior notice of demolition from any quarters or court.

At the station, Blessing told our correspondent that she contracted those who went to demolish the place because the land was not in dispute and as such belonged to her.

She said she went to Alausa and obtained the necessary documents for the demolition and she has documents which showed she owns the land. She said she was surprised when she went to the station and saw that those who went to the place to demolish it were suspected thugs which was contrary to the agreement with those she gave the contract to demolish the place.

She also said there was no court order to demolish the place except the one she obtained from Alausa.

However, the court documents obtained by our reporter indicated that the land was listed among other properties to be determined by the court in the divorce suit.

The suspected thugs have been charged to court while Blessing was yet to charged to court pending the conclusion of further investigation.

NDLEA probes Arik attendant caught with N105m cocaine

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday night stormed the headquarters of Arik Air in Ikeja Lagos following the arrest in London of a crew member of the airline for allegedly being in possession of cocaine.

The Arik crew member, identified by the anti-narcotics agency as Chika Egwu Udensi, was arrested on Monday night by operatives of the United Kingdom Border Force with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine in London.
The NDLEA agents were said to have searched Udensi’s latest Range Rover parked on the airline’s premises. Arik spokesman, Adebanji Ola, confirmed the visit by the NDLEA’s operatives.

Udensi was arrested at the London Heathrow Airport shortly after an Arik Air flight W3101 that departed from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, touched down in the UK.

2 years ago two crew members of the Arik Air were similarly nabbed by the UK Border Force in London for the same offence.
Officials of the NDLEA on Tuesday put the street value of the drug found with the suspect at £350,000 (N105m).

Arik Air on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of its cabin crew member by the UK Border Force.

The airline, in a statement by Ola, read:
“A member of Arik Air cabin crew was on Monday night arrested at the Heathrow Airport, London, by the UK Border Force in connection with alleged possession of item suspected to be a banned substance.
“The airline is presently carrying out its private investigation to determine how the cabin crew member came about the suspected banned substance.
“Arik Air will also be cooperating fully with the UK authorities and other appropriate agencies in their investigations.”
“The airline again reaffirms its commitment to the fight against drug and illicit substances trafficking and will not tolerate the use of any of its aircraft or crew for the courier of banned items and substances.
“Arik Air carries out very stringent checks on all members of staff and its travelling guests ahead of all flights. The airline will continue to focus its attention on measures to prevent the possibility of any future similar incidents.
“Arik Air is a responsible Nigerian company, always seeking to maintain and uphold the integrity and proud reputation of the nation.”
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mr. Ahmadu Giade, on Tuesday ordered investigation into the operations of Arik Air following the development.
The Nigerian anti-narcotics agency in a statement said that it had notified the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom of the arrest.

Giade said
“The agency will carry out full scale investigation into this case to ascertain those behind the criminal act. We shall work closely with our international collaborators on the matter. Arik Airline will be sanctioned if found wanting.
“The agency shall invoke section 25 of the NDLEA Act against the airline, which states that it shall be the duty of every commercial carrier to take reasonable precaution to ensure that its means of transport are not used in the commission of offences under this Act.
“Every commercial carrier is expected to comply with appropriate security measures at points of entry and exit in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other customs control areas, to prevent unauthorised cargo in its means of transportation.
“The law refers to the precautionary measures to include training of personnel, promotion of integrity of their personnel, submission of cargo manifests in advance, use of tamper-resistant, individually verifiable seals on containers and reporting to the agency at the earliest opportunity all suspicious circumstances relating to drug trafficking.
“Nigeria has a cordial working relationship with the United Kingdom in drug control. This has resulted to a drastic reduction in the number of arrests made in the United Kingdom from flights originating from Nigeria over the years.”
